German language Trainings
Success in a German-speaking environment
Edwin Heuvelink, Commercial Director Neco BV:
I started at a very basic level, without any prior formal schooling in German. Now I feel sufficiently confident to begin conquering the German market. And this after only five days! My conversational skills have improved tremendously and I can speak freely with new clients and agents. This is a major step towards expanding into the German market. I understand the context of cultural differences. This has made me more confident when approaching German clients. Based on your own expertise you have ideas about your niche, your strategy, companies and people to approach. Training Intercultural Skills – ‘Improving your personal style of communication’
During the past 20 years Elisabeth Schlager has specialized in how the German culture and style of communication differs from that in the Netherlands or English speaking countries. Integrated in her German language courses she offers an effective way of learning how to do business in a German-speaking environment. She focuses on your specific field of business and helps you to develop a style of communication with German speakers that fits your personality.
Schlager Training and Coaching also offers the so-called ‘Intercultural Skills’ training in cooperation with the University of Jena. In this training clients are allowed to personally experience how their style of speaking and interacting comes across in a German-speaking environment and culture. Clients are taught to communicate with self-reflection, which is in the opinion Elisabeth one of the prerequisites for business success.
Examples of Skills – how to:
- Develop successful strategies for approaching the German market
- Present your company and product successfully

Freek Hartman, Director PWR Pack:
Thanks to Elisabeth’s coaching it has become easier to maintain and improve my relationships with customers and employees. I’m able to approach and understand the people I want to do business with. I can communicate with them at an equal level. I’ve become more comfortable acting naturally and being more personal, which enhances business success. By addressing and removing personal barriers I’ve become more confident. As a result, I find it easier to deal with people at all levels: in my private life and in business, from warehouse employees to executives. During a reorganisation process I managed to be myself, make my own decisions and gain the trust of my colleagues and clients in such a way that we could complete the process unhindered.
Gaining the trust of your colleagues, employers and clients
As the world of business moves faster and becomes more competitive, corporations and their staff are under more pressure to succeed. With executive and management coaching you will improve your relationships with your colleagues, employees and clients, based on more understanding and better communication.
Examples of possible coaching challenges:
- Miscommunication and problem solving
- Leadership in a quickly changing business environment
- Speaking in public
- Prevention of / dealing with burn-out
- Executing organisational changes
To improve your leadership skills, Elisabeth Schlager developed her so-called Self Inquiry Method. You are encouraged to deal with personal barriers, counter-productive behaviour patterns and exchange them for more effective ones.
Elisabeth also brings a sense of playfulness into her sessions that gives you the feeling that even personal coaching can be fun. To learn more about her as intercultural and business coach, see Elisabeth as coach
